DESCRIPTION

Fun, challenging yet casual retro arcade shooter. The way they used to be back in the day.

The appeal of retro arcade games is immediacy, fluid game play and fun. BaconVaders is an attempt to distill all those components into a retro space shooter that draws inspiration from my favorite arcade games of the 70s and 80s. No long loading screens, complicated menus or forced upgrades. Just lots of arcade space shooter fun with varied enemy formations, bosses, power-ups and more!

Tips:
* Shoot the asteroids into smaller bits to unlock power-ups!
* Shoot the alien spaceships to unlock extra lives!
* Watch out for the robotic space pigs' bombs!

I started coding this game in the 80s on a Commodore 64 computer in assembly language. Finally, many years later, I finished it on iOS.

Story:
In a not-too-distant future, humans repulsed by the raising of animals for meat, yet enthralled with the deliciousness of pork products, create the Machina Lardifica — a bacon-producing machine, or robotic pig. While the experiment was initially successful, the machines soon began to evolve basic consciousness.
Eventually, the Machina Lardifica learned how to organize and build weapons. Their plan: To exterminate humanity and take over Earth!
Thus began the war against the robotic pigs. The front line of this war is now in space, from which the Machina Lardifica plan to deploy their greatest weapon: A bomb capable of destroying all life on Earth.
Your mission as a top Space Fighter pilot, is to take on the Machina Lardifica and save the world. Good Luck!
